How to create Incidents via the command line

Postby Darco » Tue Jun 26, 2007 12:38 pm

Q. How to create Incidents via the command line using an input file

A. The following steps explain how to create e.g. Incidents via the command line using an input file:

Edit file C:\Program Files\CA\Service Desk\site\text_api.cfg and locate the following section:
#################################################################
# the following cannot be deleted or changed or you will
# lose functionallity!!
#################################################################
add the following line immediately under the above section:
REQUEST.TYPE=type.STRING
Recycle the Service Deskt service

Create an input file to be used in the next step, e.g. c:\input.txt with the following example contents:
%CATEGORY=Email
%SUMMARY=Incident_created_via_cmd_line
%TYPE=I
Open a DOS command prompt and issue the following command:
pdm_text_cmd -t Request -u <user> -f c:\input.txt
Check on Service Desk that a new Incident was created using Incident Area = Email and Summary = Incident_created_via_cmd_line.
